About Alicia

Alicia Shaw and her family – husband Ted and their three children – have been Whitnall residents since 2015. They have experienced all grades that Whitnall has to offer, from K4 all the way to 12th grade. Ever since moving here, Alicia has been very active in the district, participating in fundraising, celebrations, sports, music, and arts. She has also been a member, volunteer, and leader in both the Hales Corners Elementary and Whitnall Middle School PTOs. Alicia is a Friend of the Hales Corners Library and a monthly book club member. She frequently attends Whitnall School Board Meetings.

Alicia has been working in improvement work in her role in the Quality department of a local hospital for over nine years. During this time, she earned a master’s degree in 2021 focused on systems change and handling complexity. She teaches in the UW-Milwaukee School of Nursing as a clinical instructor, teaching others how to use improvement tools and lead change. Colleagues describe her as a skilled communicator, team member, and leader. They also describe her as approachable, encouraging, and optimistic.

Alicia is dedicated to service. She served in the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves for 8 years, including a deployment to Afghanistan in 2003. She’s continued serving in the community as a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels. Alicia has also been a youth coach for multiple sports and teams in the community.

Alicia’s experiences as a Whitnall parent, community member, professional, teacher, military service member, and volunteer all will give her the skills and passion to dedicate herself as an effective Whitnall School Board Member.
